Electricity Adviser and Gas Adviser

Both an electricity and a gas adviser play very important roles in keeping buildings and homes safe from fires. The role of an electricity adviser to to perform a thorough search on all the electrical inputs and outputs to make sure that they are working as they should do and producing the correct amount of volts, if there is a problem with the electrical outputs in a building or house (such as plugs) then this can result in a fire taking place which is why they should be regularly checked to prevent this from occurring. Whereas the role of a gas adviser is to check the main gas supply in a house or building to make sure that it is working correctly as well as all the gas outputs, if gas supply is not correctly fitted or if there is a leak then this is extremely dangerous as all it would take is a spark to cause an explosion as well as a fire.

Fire Investigation
Image result for gas advisorElectricity and Gas advisers are called upon with most fire investigations where the fire originally started within a house or building because these are the places where gas and electricity are used the most. Once they arrive at the scene they perform an examination, they usually start at the seat of the fire (where the fire originated from) to see if that there were any links to gas or electricity being a key factor in the cause of the fire. If they have a reason to think that this is the case then further analysis will be done depending on whether it was gas or electricity that caused it to occur. If they are led to believe that the fire was caused due to an electrical fault then all plug sockets and wires will be examined, a volt test will also be completed to see the amount of volts that was being produced. If it is thought that the fire was caused due to a gas fault then the man gas supply will be checked as well as the pipes that leads the gas around the house. The electricity and gas advisers will usually keep in close communication with the insurance loss adjuster who is currently working on that case, they do this as they can inform the insurance loss adjuster how the fire was caused and how much damage has been done to the property in terms of gas and electricity, for example they would tell them how badly the gas and electrical inputs have been damaged and the average cost to repair them so that the insurance loss adjuster can add that amount to the insurance bill that will be given to the owner of the building for repairs. Overall i think that the electricity and gas advisers do play an important role in a fire investigation as they are there test whether the fire was caused by an electrical or gas fault which means that they are able to find out whether a fire was intentionally created or whether it was accidental, this is very beneficial for other agencies and organisations working on the case such as the police as they can find out very early on whether a criminal investigation needs to be set up if the fire was intentional, this not only saves the polices time but also the scenes of crime officers time as they will not need to visit the scene if the fire was accidental.
