Fire Investigation
A insurance loss adjuster is needed in nearly every fire investigation where some form of damage occurs to a property, this can range from minor damage such as broken windows or burnt walls to complete destruction of houses and businesses. The insurance loss adjuster would visit the scene days after (once it has been somewhat cleaned up) to view the damages that have occurred so that they can come up with a rough estimate on how much it will cost to repair the damage that has been caused to the building by the fire. According to http://www.concordiaconsultancy.com/media/84/84-arson detection central role.pdf fraudulent arson has become increasing popular over the last couple of years which is why a insurance loss adjuster has to gather lots of information from and keep in close contact with the police to make sure that the fire was not purposely created for fraud purposes. Once the police verify that the fire was not created for this reason then the insurance loss adjuster is able to pay the property owner the required funds to repair the property. The only agency involved in the fire investigation that the insurance loss adjuster would interact with is the police, this is because the police are the one who provide the insurance loss adjuster with information about the case which they would need to know when providing the insurance money to the land owner, this information would include how the fire was caused and the extent of damage. The insurance loss adjuster would then visit the property and use they specialist knowledge to work out how much damage was done while using the polices information as a guideline. Overall, i do not think that an insurance loss adjuster plays a big role in the fire investigation as a whole as they have no impact in the investigation and do not provide support to any other organisations or agencies that are working in the investigation, they do however, have a large effect on the owner of the building that has been destroyed by the fire as they are the ones who control the amount of money they receive in compensation.
